BASIC FORUM RULES
-Don't Work Around the Censor... There is to be no obsessive or unnecessary swearing or other profanity. Censoring has been added and cursing is fine as long as you don't work around the censor, but problems with language or attempting to work around the censoring will result in punishment, up to and including a ban depending on the circumstance.
-No Spamming... this will result in punishment depending on the circumstance, up to and including a ban.
-No Inappropriate Images... All images that are posted on the forum must be appropriate. If any inappropriate and/or adult themed images are discovered on this forum the person responsible will receive punishment depending on the circumstance, up to and including a ban.
-Don't Support Rule Breakers... If you notice a rule being being ignored, abused, or broken, then report it immediately. Failure to report rule violations, have knowledge of their existence and or hiding this knowledge from the Ascendance Team, can make you subject to similar punishment.
-No Drama... Nothing on our forum is personal to anyone. We are here to role play and to write, not to inflate our egos or show how much better at this or that we are than other people. Save the drama for your in-character writing and keep it out of real life.
-No Politics Out Of The Debates... Everyone has political views, religious views, whatever views. This is not the place to express them. Yes, it is fun to talk about these things, but unfortunately it gets in the way of the role play and almost always gets messy.
-No Hate... You make a single racist or prejudicial comment to someone out-of-character and you're gone. Such behavior is only "ok" from your character(s).
-No Bailing... One of the big problems with playing in online forums is that people sometimes vanish and leave others hanging. Don't do it. We are reasonable and understanding, but if you don't plan on staying for a role play then don't start at all.
GAMEPLAY
-Game Masters over their specific quest and has jurisdiction over all actions within that particular quest. GMs may conduct their quest however they see fit. They can also add any event parameters, rules and requirements they wish. Thus allowing them a great deal of control over the scenario they seek to create. That level of control is often necessary to allow for the creation of varied and interesting adventures. Game participants found to be violating the instructions of their GM may, at the Game Masters discretion, be subject to Moderator action.
-All events must take place in the World of Chrome. All GMs must use the details in the database as a basis for the world around them.
-Any information which is not specified or discussed in the WOC Database is open for debate/discussion.

-Any information which is not specified or discussed in the WOC Database is open for debate/discussion.
-The Moderator retains the right of review over decisions made by a Game Master.
-Game participants who feel they have been subjected to unfair abuse by a Game Master, or believe their GM is acting in violation of the forum rules, may ask the Moderator to intervene. However, any requests will be treated with the presumption that the Game Master acted appropriately within the context of their game.
-ALWAYS use proper grammar/spelling when in character, unless your particular character has a reason why they speak differently.
-ALL Game Masters must specifically state the setting for their event. Which means hosts must give a definitive description of the situation and scenario for the event.
- If you have a question/concern/disagreement, etc. Then create a separate thread on the "(QCIS) Board".
-All members have the right to create/start a quest but each quest must have at least two members that take part in it.
-If a member wishes to join a quest then they must either contact the Game Master of that quest and/or follow the rules/instructions provided by them regarding that quest.
-All posts must be submitted to the correct "Place" where your character currently is, not the region itself.
-If you can't find a place where you want your character to go or be in, then create a new thread in that region with the official name and description of that place in the 1st post. Adding an image of the place in that 1st post is option but recommended.
CHARACTER INTERACTIONS AND COMBAT
If you've never done this or any online role playing before, you may want to view the forums and examine how other writers are interacting with each other. It's fairly simple once you get the hang of it.
Playing is done by writing your character's actions and responding to what other characters are doing. You can only respond to people's actions and play your character. You can't write for other people or control their characters (that's called cheating, or autoing) and you can't kill them unless they agree or a staff member OK's it.
________________________________________________________________________
Combat is not the primary goal of writing here...
If your character is in a fight, it is in your best interest to do a few things:
-Do not assume your attacks on other characters will hit them.
-It may help to talk to and decide with your opponent ahead of time what you want to happen.
-Do not come up with powers and items you need out of nowhere.
-Do not try to play with your powers and bend what's written in your profile to help you gain an advantage.
-Trying to be too powerful in general is called god-modding. Don't do it. Nobody will want to play with you and the staff will get on your case. The less powerful you are, the less of a god modder you are, and the easier it is for everyone involved.
-Let people hit you. You must let people hit you sometimes. What kind of book would you write where your main hero never takes a beating or never gets hit by anything? One that we don't want to read or partake in.
-If you are comfortable with the people you are writing with, you may wish to come to an agreement with them to allow auto-hits. This means that "you can hit me if I can hit you" and can make everything much easier. Do this only if you're mature enough to be able to compromise for good writing and only if you have gotten to know the other person. If it causes a problem: take your losses, call it off, and don't cause a scene.
-You cannot kill another player's character without having permission to do it, or unless a staff member says you can.
(Which will be an extremely rare occasion for a staff member to do that.)
ADVERTISEMENT/PROMOTION
-There are no restrictions on what website/forum/blog software your board must be hosted on, however the forum must not be sexually oriented as it would be deleted immediately.
-Directory submissions may be made by anyone both guests and members, however staff and administration of the board in question can request for the submission to be edited or removed at anytime.
-Only one submission is permitted per website/forum/blog. If there are multiple threads promoting the same thing then ALL of them will be deleted and treated as spam.
-You may only update/bump your promotion thread once a day. Attempting to "bump" your thread to the top multiple times in one day will result in its deletion.
HALL OF DEBATES
-Post replies that are thoughtful and add to the discussion at hand. So if you "totally agree" explain why.
-Keep foul language to a minimum. Swearing excessively does not add to the discussion or your argument.
-Please respect others and their opinions even if you disagree. Everyone has the right to believe what they want.
-Regarding your own point of view: please do not make baseless claims or promote your opinions as fact. Also, please be courteous of other's opinions and do not attempt to force your own upon them.
CHARACTER CREATION
-All members are allowed to have as many characters as they feel they can handle.
-Regarding special powers and abilities, they must not be overly powerful and there must be a weakness to overcome that power.
-Your characters background, appearance, history, etc is only limited by your imagination.
(BE ORIGINAL)
-All characters must be submitted to the "Character Submission" section so they can be reviewed. Once approved the Admin/Moderators will move them to the "Character Archive".
-If you wish to adopt a character then post a comment below the characters profile and an Admin or Moderator will move the character to the Character Archive.
-As this is a sandbox world, the character template is very simple. If you feel the need to re-arrange/add/edit parts of the template feel free to do so.

-Only approved writers are allowed to add to it.
-All new stories must be creative, in game and related to the WOC universe.
-In order to become a reporter you must contact the admin(s) and submit a "pseudo news story" so they can determine your level and skill of writing.
